Minutues of the Annual General Meeting on 25th April 2001

 1. Una Hartley welcomed all present.

Apologies:               Don and Angela Lidgley, Alec and Janet Cilliers,Vic de Valdorf, Angus and Gillian
                               Wilson, Priscilla and Clive Beaton.
Attendance:             as per the Attendance Register.

2. The Minutes of the previous AGM held on the 17th May 2000 were accepted as read (copies were at the door).

Proposed by            Ken Williams.
Seconded by           Cherry Giljam.

3. Una Hartley read her Chairpersons report.

4. Joye Gibbs read the Treasurers report. She commented that the books had been audited by our Honorary Auditor and asked that the report be accepted.

5. Councillor Qually conducted the election of the Office bearers.

Chairperson elected                Una Hartley.
Deputy Chairperson elected     Gavin Lawson.
Secretary elected                    Geoff Bailey (presently he is out of the country).
Treasurer elected                    Joye Gibbs.
Executive member elected       Vincent Marincowitz.
Executive member elected       Konstanza Gerbhardt.

6. The proposal to change the Zandvlei Trust Constitution with the addition of “to act as an apolitical body” was;

Seconded by:          Konstanza Gerbhardt

and was accepted.

7. Discussion was held, with a majority indication that the subscriptions could be increased as from 01/04/2001 to R30.00 per person and R40.00 per family.
The alternative would be to pay for each function attended. A suggestion was put forward that a donation box be put out, at each meeting to help pay for the refreshments.
The majority of people in the attendance indicated that they would be happy to receive their Newsletters via email. Gavin Lawson indicated that this would be available once the web page is launched about mid May 2001.

8. Gavin Lawson introduced the Guest Speaker Clifford Dorse. He gave a Power point presentation on “A vision for Zandvlei Estuary Reserve and its surrounding Parklands” which he emphasised was not an official policy but his conservation ideas for the area. Joye Gibbs thanked the Speaker and wished him a long stay at Zandvlei Nature Reserve.

9. There was a question from the floor asking “is Zandvlei Trust involved with the housing of vagrants in Muizenberg, at the Zandvlei bowling club buildings”. Una Hartley stated emphatically this was not the business of the Zandvlei Trust.

Una Hartley closed the meeting at 21h45 and invited all present to stay and enjoy some refreshment.
