Botany group in action, with a plant rescue at Pelican Park, Zeekoevlei on 24 October 2004.

This is a working partnership with ZIMP and the City of Cape Town.

On 16 October 2004, the Botany Group and the City of Cape Town – Zandvlei Nature Reserve staff went to Pelican Park at Zeekoevlei, to do a search and rescue of indigenous Strandveld vegetation. The site has been set aside for a housing development.

Thys Meere and Kareemah Jacobs carefully digging out some bulbs.

Bulbs were brought back to the Zandvlei office, where Kareemah and Erika seperated the bulbs and seeds. Bulbs were placed in envelopes and treated with karbadust. The bulbs will be planted out in the Nature Reserve area in April 2005.
