Antlions



Pit-building Antlion  (Cueta) wingspan about 60mm has cream spot ion the wing. Larvae  make a conical pit in sandy areas. They have very large jaws in relation to their body size to capture prey that strays into the pit.



Antlion  (Lanchiathetes moestus) a large specimen with each wing about 80mm long and has beautiful markings. 
The adults are predcious. The larva live below the soil surface and ambush their prey in conical shaped pits in the sand.
