Shield-backed Katydid (Arytroteris) body length about 55mm. Ovipositor about 25mm long. Mostly carnivorous feeding on smaller insects. It has no wings.

Short winged Predatory Katydid (Hemiclonia melanoptera) this specimum about 220mm from tip of feelers to the tip of ovipositor. Adults are carnivorous appearing in summer.
