Lea Road Scout Hall Hop (dance)

In Nick Taylor's solo performance, "Sing into your Heart" at the Masque Theatre (2000), he fondly referred to the Lea Road Scout Hall (Lakeside), in a song "Lea Road Hop". In the 50's and 60's all towns and suburbs in South Africa had a "Hop" (dance for young boys and girls).
He remembers boys lining up on one side of the hall and the girls on the other. When the music started there would be a rush for the prettiest girls. "I was too young to have a real girlfriend then, but it didnt stop me from trying", he reminisced.
