Volunteers needed – at the West Coast Field Studies Centre.



Frank with some sweet corn in the vegetable garden.

1. Start and manage a vegetable Garden.

 Volunteers to manage and run a vegetable gardening school for patients of the Brooklyn Chest Hospital also for local people from the Brooklyn, Rugby, Milnerton, Maitland areas who would benefit from skills training. Students will be taught about pollination propogation and the effects of various fertilizers.
We have the land, water, implements and farming machinery available.



2. Start and manage a Woodworking and Metalworking Workshop.

This to teach patients of the Brooklyn Chest Hospital and interested local people a skill in using woodworking and metalworking equipment. They will take back their new learned skills to towns and villages all over the Western Cape. A long list of equipment required for the Centre plus other items for sale to schools in order to fund the work of the Centre.



3. A volunteer typist wanted.
To type letters and send emails on behalf of the Field Studies Centre. This person should preferably live in the Brooklyn, Rugby area.


Heather Howell is a retired teacher, with a class learning about the natural environment.

4. Volunteer retired Teachers or Naturalists required.

To assist with school classes on environmental field study trips during the week and also to help with the  young naturalists at the weekends.
