Zandvlei Trust Draft Report Meeting on 10 November 2010. Councillor Demetri Qually opened the meeting to review the Draft Report presented and compiled by Lynn Jackson and Julian Conrad. About 35 people attended the meeting. This is the culmination of a 5 month series of meetings with public and specialists input via Technical Working Groups. Lynn Jackson introducing the Draft Report to the meeting on 10 November 2010. The purpose of the meeting was to review the priority issues, the vision and strategic objectives of the plan. The presentation and discussion revolved around the operational objectives and management strategies which Lynn extracted from the report. She emphasised with input from City officials this is a 5 year plan mostly without capital budget for some of the idealistic issues highlighted in the report. It is a living document and is subject to change. It is envisaged that the ZAC (Zandvlei Action Committee) will talke on the responsibility of the Management Plan with the Technical Working Groups and the responsible City, Provincial and National depts attending the quarterly meetings. The full document will be made available to the participants. Once it is completed Lynn will notify those concerned. The meeting of stakeholders and public listening to Lynn. The way forward was explained by Alan Boyd from the Dept of Environmental Affairs. He eluded to the Marine Coastal Protection Plan and how this Management Plan will dovetail with it when implemented. The City is also concurrently reviewing all the Nature Reserve Management Plans and will be submitting them under the Protected Areas Bill in 2011. The meeting was closed at 19H15.
