Zandvlei, May
1988.

Lisa Campbell supplied the photographs.
The view of the grassed picnic area on the western shore of Zandvlei, was
taken in May 1988 after heavy rainfall.
There are Hartlaubs Gulls, Cattle
Egrets, Blacksmith Plovers, Blackbacked Gulls and a Cape Shoveller enjoying the
pools of water.
Her comment in the note she supplied "that there were not
many Egyptian Geese in those days" is a good observation.

This picture was also taken in May 1988. The exotic vegetation is still apparent
on Park Island across the water. The trees and shrubs were only removed in
1999 - 2000. The tree line at Cecelia Forest can be seen on the slopes of the
Peninsula Mountain range. It is different in 2004, with sections having been
harvested recently.
