Ground photographs.

These pictures were supplied by Dave and Cynthia Privett. Dave and Cynthia found the old pictures in the 
Reference Library in Cape Town dating back to the 1890s.. They decided to take "new" photographs from the approximate position of the original pictures, 100 years later. 

 
1890's picture.
Notice how close the Zandvlei main water body is to railway line on the left hand side.


1990's picture.
The left hand side has been reclaimed by about 20 – 30 meters. The water body at Rutter Road  is considerably smaller as well. Electric overhead cables power the suburban trains now.
