Zandvlei trust

 Arbour Day – 16 June 2008

This is a working relationship with the City, WESSA and Zandvlei Trust

On a cold and windy morning Neil Major arrived with 250 plants (15 species) for the BOSSIES project funded by WESSA, to be planted in Ermington Road, Muizenberg.

Nineteen members and friends came to help plant a local indigenous fynbos corridor along Ermington Road to create a link from the estuary to Bokmakierie Park which is part of the GZENR.

This planting helps increase the biodiversity of species which will move along the pavements.
An example we had just off loaded the Chasmanthe aethiopica when a Southern Doublecollared Sunbird started feeding on the orange flowers. These plants were selected by Neil as low growing shrubs to provide shelter and cover for insects birds and small animals moving along the pavement corridor.

Pat Coles                                                           The fairies came to help as well.

Nigel Bruce                                                    The holes were watered first before the plants went in.
