Zandvlei Trust

Muizenberg Community Festival – 29/03/2008.

On Saturday, Zandvlei Trust – Environmental Education Team together with staff of the Greater Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve, set up the educational stand to get the message across that Muizenberg has an important estuary.

Cherry Giljam and Sharon McCallum planned and sourced the equipment together with the Reserve staff. The posters and information boards all were laminated in the weeks before and put up.

Then we had to make like molerats                           Councillor Qually also emerged from the tunnel

Another molerat                                                 The children loved the molerat tunnel

Thank you Mr Victor from Tube-o-flex for very kindly donating a length of tubing for the molerat tunnel.
Great fun was had by the children at this part of the "estuary of life."

Next was the fishing experience. The children had fun catching a fish and had to identify it on the screen and learn its name.

Filling in the forms                                         Fay showing the live Leopard Toads,

The spectacular acrobats in a couple of their amazing routines

The cold wind stayed away for most of the day. There were many other activities for all to have fun and enjoy themselves. There was non stop live music in the main tent. Artists diplayed their work, buskers played, stall holders traded their wares and there was a good variety of food for all.

Everyone had fun.
