Zandvlei Trust

MyVillage card system.

Fill in an application form online or
print a hard copy application form in pdf format. This requires Acrobat Reader 5.

See some of the larger store names participating below. There are many small businesses in the local area as well.
You receive a list when you get your card. Another item to remember the card is operational anywhere in the Republic of South Africa. You can use it when on holiday or business in the town or city you are visiting. Just remember to produce your card when paying for your purchases.

  • This is not a credit or debit banking card.

  • It is just to register the total monetry value of your purchases, so that the retailer pays the percentage due to  Zandvlei Trust the nominated beneficary, via the administrators Virtual Market Place.

  • It costs you nothing –  except filling in the form. When you receive your card all you have to remember, is to hand it to the teller when making your purchses at any of the participating retail companies.

  • The transaction  is recorded live at Woolworths stores to the Virtual Market Place database in realtime.

  • Most other businesses record your card number manually and the area reps gather the info monthly.

  • Zandvlei Trust does not pay any admin fees for the operation and receives a sustainable longterm income.

  • The individual card costs are about R20 which covers the operation and setup costs. This amount is first paid off, when you have your card swiped or its number recordered. On completion of this payment, the subsequent monies then all go to Zandvlei Trust.

  • The participating retailer can claim back from the Receiver of Revenue, the companies donation to Zandvlei Trust, which is about 2% of your individual total spend at the store. The percentage is determined by the individual companies management. The claim back is for advertising and marketing expenses. There is another method for the retail company to reclaim the donations to Zandvlei Trust as well.

This system is exactly the same as the MySchool card system which has helped raise millions of rands for many schools throughout South Africa since 1998. It is a very well developed system.
The MyVillage card is still in its infancy compared, and the systems are still being set up.

Nicky Edwards is our southern suburbs representative for the MyVillage and MySchool card system.

December 2005 –  Virtual Market Place the administrators of the My Village / My School card system have registered Zandvlei Trust as a beneficiary Environmental Organisation.

Some of the participating national retailers are Woolworths, Engen, Club Travel, Kalahari.net SupaQuick, Tile Africa, and Waltons. There are many other regional and local retailers who support the programme, where the cards can be used.
