Peninsula Paddle Expedition on 5th June 2011 - World Environment Day.

Table Bay to the Diep River and Milnerton Canoe Club.

We arrived at the car park of the Lagoon Hotel  to off load the canoes back into the Diep River at the estuary mouth.

Kevin, Karen (back to camera), Ian and Christopher mounting the last bit of energy for the final push to the Milnerton Canoe Club.

Glen getting some helping words for the end bit.

Guy cruising in. The the SUP  guys and girls make it look so easy.

Alistair, Kevin and Ian getting their canoes down to the lagoon.

Glen surfing the tide in.

About one kilometre to go to the finish.

The road sign proclains this to be the Diep River, with the old woodbridge to the island in the background.

This was the view from the road bridge. What a beautiful backdrop!

And this was the welcoming party on the new road bridge, the Friends of Liesbeek River waiting for the Paddlers to arrive.

This colourful guy arrived to celebrate World Environment Day. He is from Sweden and is going
to be riding through Africa to raise funds for a charity.
He had phoned Catherine about 5 minutes before trying to find out where the Peninsula Paddle was ending.
He had heard about it on the radio.

.....and here they come. They received a long, loud applause as they past under the bridge.

Yeeeeh we have made it!! Alistair in front and Errol following.

Glen the guard at the rear of the train.

This was the festive, colourful welcome at the Milnerton Canoe Club.

Made it.

The last ones out.

At last we can get out of the wet gear and put on something warm and dry.
