Zandvlei Trust

Peninsula Paddle Expedition on 5th June 2011 - World Environment Day.

Plumstead to Kenilworth by bicycles.

This was an interesting section, not everyone had bicycles. Karen had baled at Princessvlei and rode to Plumstead to join the cycle part. She had hurt her knee before the expedition and did not want to aggravate it any more.

Glen is waiting for his bicycle to arrive and the canoe to be picked up. This is in the service road of Prince George Drive at the intersection of Dick Burton Street.

They have crossed Ottery Road in the background. Ian was watching them go by, when Karen stopped and offered Ian the ride to Kenilworth on her bike. And off he went, he remarked he last rode a bke more than 20 years ago. He did very well.

Sam and Kevin.

Alistair and Errol.

Chasing after them along Prince George Drive near the Novalis Centre.

Ian in the dark outfit going along OK.

Kevin pulling the train along to make up some lost time.

Here they are turning from Rosemead Avenue into Doncaster Road.

The car drivers were very considerate when the cyclists indicated they wanted to turn right.

Seconds arrived at Access Park next to the Kromboom River canal. The M5 is in the background.

Errol arrived and getting something to eat.

The Kromboom River below.

Kevin tanking up and getting some medical precautionary treatment for scraped shins.

One of the shins.

Glen made it before his canoe arrived.

Christopher getting some help in his canoe. He did not have a bicycle either, so had to travel with his canoe to this stop.

Securing all the different modes of transport in the seconds vehicle.

Dick also had to drive to this stop as he did not have a bicycle.

Set to move off on the next section down to the Black River.
