Sand River litter trap 22/05/2007

City contractors were busy on the 22/05/2007 trying to clear the rubbish out of the trap in the Sand River. They had cleared it of about 2.5 cubic meters of rubbish on the Friday evening, preceding the week end rains. A large truck removed about 4 cubic meters later in the morning just from this trap

This pile of rubbish was trapped against the            7 people to unblock the trap and get the junk out.

This view shows the some of the junk dumped by people up river. TV sets, car tyres, wood of all sizes and descriptions, 3 metal shopping trolleys, plastic packaging and containers, crates, plant mater, you name it it is there. On the right is the back seat from a motorcar and a wooden fence pole.

The music was dumped as well, the seven single is "Blue Lace"  by Frank Sinatra. A lounge setee and an armchair landed up in the circular side wash.

8 car and truck tryres were counted.                      3 compartment wooden wardrobe landed in the drink.
