1. December - Annual Vistors total

A total of 1659 children visted the Environmental Centre this year.




The Metrorail Edutrain passing the Reserve coming into Steenberg Station.

2. January – The World Wetlands Week celebrated at Zandvlei.

From Monday 30th January to 3rd February and starting with St Pauls Primary School from Faure, the Metrorail Edutrain brought about 70 grade 6 - 7 pupils to Steenberg Station. The Edutrain is a 3 carriage purpose built classroom on rail.
Zandvlei Nature Reserve is the only Nature Reserve, also with an Environmental Education Centre, within walking distance from Steenberg Station, which makes it possible for many children from all over the 
Cape Town Metropole to visit and learn about this important natural area.

Other schools to visit during the week were Academia Grade 6 - 7, Goeie Hoop Grade 6 - 7, Koos Sadie Grade 6 - 7, Luzuko Grade 4 - 7

Zandvlei Trust members assisted on most days as part of the celebration of  World Wetlands Day.
