Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve
6. December – Not a
very stable year at the Reserve, for the nature of work involved. Continuity of
knowledge and practise is paramount in the urban conservation. There are many
more external influencing factors compared to a provincial or national nature
reserve. 5. October 2006 – The Greter Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve was proclaimed by the MEC for Environment Tassiem Essop. Something to celebrate 6 long years of waiting and working behind the scenes by many people. 28/09/2006 – Ann Koeslag reports " Adam Weltz decided to have a go at our FE nest and so we went this morning.
The nest at 44 meters above ground. The chick having its stats recorded. His expert climber made good time getting up and the chick was lowered to have a tag and rings attached.
Adam from the ADU and his helpers, doing all the checks and measurements when ringing and tagging this years juvenile which has recently fledged. Its plumage is much darker than the chick that fledged two years ago". 4. September 2006 – Cassy Sheasby was appointed as the Manager of the Zandvlei Nature Reserve. 3. August 2006 – Major changes occurred in August. The City stopped all the contracts with the Nature Conservation Corporation. 20 permanent City positions were created in the Environmental Management. Farrah Feldman's position was replaced with a permanent post at Zandvlei. 2. May 2006 – Farrah Feldman was appointed as a temporary Manager for the Zandvlei Nature Reserve. 1. March 2006 – Erika Foot
was appointed as the Area Manager for the Northern Reserves in the City. Mark
Arendse was appointed as the EEC manager, he was transfered from within the
