The Summer Braai at Rondevlei on 19th January 2002.

Konstanza Gebhardt, Joye and Brian Gibbs and Peter Bronwyn at the back.
This was the first outing of the year held in lovely sunny weather. The new 'boma' at Rondevlei is a splendid venue for a braai. It is for hire, contact Rondevlei Nature Reserve (021) 706 2404.

Gerry Hogg and Hugh Manning enjoying themselves.

Ross Wilson, Oceane Roche (an exchange student from Paris) and Clifford Dorse.

Most people went for a walk along the paths and up the observation towers to see if the Hippopotamus were out grazing, while the fire was prepared. They also visited the Museum and the aquarium containing fresh water fish found in Rondevlei. The young Ostrich were delightful, they are going to be released into the sand dune areas. An opportunity to see the Porcupines is always a favourite for visitors, as these nocturnal animals are seldom seen during daylight.

This was the time to talk, relax and eat. At the back Clifford Dorse, Una Hartley, Clarry Geach, Joye Gibbs (obscured), Brian Gibbs, Peter Bronwyn, Angela Lidgley, Don Lidgley standing, Geoff Bailey and Oceane Roche.

This is all that remained of Clifford's 3,5kg Spotted Grunter (caught at the Breede River on the Cape south coast).  Everyone who tasted it pronounced it excellent. For those who did not have a taste, it was stuffed with tomatoes, onions and herbs with a little butter and spice.
